Join community members at the Kalamazoo City Commission meeting as we demand real action, not empty gestures. Change doesn’t come from waving a wand at the table of power——it comes from people showing up, speaking out, and forcing elected officials to act.
The City of Kalamazoo is making decisions that threaten our community and our values:
Encroaching on Asylum Lake and attempting to destroy a mature green space and natural water basin, worsening flooding risks.
Failing to adequately fund 24-hour shelters and mental health care, while continuing displacement of unhoused residents.
Refusing transparency about who holds power, including basic public accountability for officers.
Supporting surveillance expansion like Flock cameras while residents demand safety without criminalization.
Remaining silent — or complicit — as genocide and war are funded abroad and harm is inflicted at home.
We are calling on the City Commission to:
Officially denounce Resolution 2876
Stand with Palestine
Stop sweeps of unhoused people
Reject expanded surveillance in Kalamazoo
Protect land, housing, and human dignity
Hold city leadership accountable for decisions that cause harm
